Cigarette mouthpiece-making machines. - In machines for making cigarette mouthpieces of the spiral type in which the paper is cut obliquely and the blanks are rotated to the right and left alternately to present the oblique edge to the mandrel, the pair of shears is adapted to be rotated so as to cut both the oblique edge and the transverse edge. Fig. 1 shows the position of the shears when cutting the transverse or square edge of the paper, and immediately thereafter the shears are rotated into an oblique position by means of a cam 11, bell-crank 9, slide 7, segment 19, and pinion 18. The shears are attached to the pinion. The end of the shears is guided in a slot 26 in a plate 25, which is raised and lowered by means of a cam 36, and pin 33, Fig. 3, to effect the cutting-movement, of the movable limb 15 of the shears. The length of the stroke of the slide and the angle of rotation of the shears are adjustable by means of the slots 13, 21 of the bell-crank 9 and the segment arm 20 respectively.
