Abstract

116,359. Whitehead, R. June 11, 1917. Cutlery and like blades. - Cutting-edges are formed on blades by one or more bevelled cutters h, g, which cut and shape the work v to a single or double bevelled edge, while the work is held by spring stops, which allows the work to move laterally during the cutting and shaping operation. One form of machine comprises an adjustable spring arm l, a spring-pressed bar q, and an adjustable rigid bar o. Any number of spring and rigid stops may be used. The lower blade may be dispensed with, the blade h then co-acting with the bottom of the recess x in the anvil. The spring s actuating the bar q may be adjusted. The ram carries a stop k.
