Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to tubular magazine guns fitted with compoundmovement breech-blocks and consists in forming a lug 2, Figs. 1 and 4, on the under face of the breech-block 3, which lug co-operates with a rounded cam 8 formed upon the forward edge of the cartridge-lifter 9, to retain the cartridges in the magazine, as shown in Fig. 1. The magazine 21 may be charged, or emptied, through the opening 10 by turning the lifter 9 into the position shown in Fig. 3, the breechblock being locked in the closed position. The cam 8 is bevelled so as to push the cartridges slightly forward when the lifter is raised for emptying the magazine, and the lug 2 bears upon each cartridge flange a little in advance of the cam 8.
