Diaphragm valves; actuating valves. - A liquid-supply valve consists of a diaphragm 5 having an aperture 6 through which liquid passes into a chamber 4. The flow of liquid from this chamber is regulated by a valve 13 operated by an electro-magnet 8, the main valve 5 being opened to an extent proportionate to the opening of the valve 13. The electromagnet operates an armature 10 against the action of a spring 15, and the armature is connected to the valve 13. It is arranged that when a large current is passing through the electro-magnet, the valve 13 is shut off and as a result the valve 5 is closed.
