Aerial machines with aerostats; aerostats; cars.-A dirigible air-ship designed for sporting purposes and for short journeys comprises an aerostat composed of. four sections 5, 6, 7, 8 contained within a rigid framework 1 of lenticular shape with flattened sides; a car 2 fixed to a frame 3, which is connected with the frame 1 by rigid stays 4; a central propeller 9 mounted on the car, and side propellers 10, 11, which may be swung into a vertical position for raising or lowering, or may be driven separately for sidesteering; and front and rear elevators 16, 14 together with a rear rudder 13, all adapted for operation by means of wires from the car. Planes, construction of. - The lenticular aerostat acts also as a plane. Propelling is effected by a central propeller 9 mounted on the car, and by side propellers 10, 11 which may be adjusted to act as lifting- propellers. Steering.-The air-ship is steered by means of front and rear elevators 16, 14 respectively, and by a rear rudder 13, all operated by wires from the car.
