22,829. Wanzer, C. M. Oct. 16. Aerial machines without aerostats; cars; planes, arrangement of; steering and balancing.-In an aeroplane of the monoplane type having a vertical depending keel plane 39, a vertical balancing-plane 41 is pivotally mounted at each side of the suspended car 12 and is operable from inside the car by levers 43 connected to the planes by links 44. When the link 44 is brought into the car and the lever 43 turned against the body, the plane is locked in its operative position. The car is formed with a prow-shaped front 45. The main plane 24 is mounted on a longitudinal frame 19, from which depends a triangular frame 8 supporting the car. The propeller shafts 6 are mounted in bearings in the frame 8 and are driven by chains from the motor. A rear elevator 15 and rudder 14 are operated by cords from the car.
