Clutches, friction. - In a friction clutch for motor-cycles and the like, the driven hub M carries a fixed cone L adapted to be engaged by a movable cone D, secured to the driving- pulley N and having projections H sliding in pockets F in a ring E secured to a sleeve B loose on the fixed axle A. Springs G in the pockets F keep the cone surfaces normally in engagement and they are disengaged by a rod R engaging a bridle P bearing on the cone D through a ball thrust bearing O.
