Abstract

1,046,410. Worm and wheel gearing. ELEKTRO-MECHANIK G.m.b.H. May 20, 1964 [May 20, 1963], No. 20806/64. Headings F2C, F2L and F2Q. Friction clutches 3 connecting the ends of a freely rotatable worm 1 to a drive shaft 2 are disengaged on excess torque by the worm 1 moving axially to move balls 10 against adjustable springs 5 up the sloping side 11 of the annular drive shaft groove 8, and radially, thus axially disengaging annular friction clutch disc linings 7 from one of the worm ends. The other clutch is disengaged by balls 10 being held axially against the straight edge of groove 8 adjacent the worm end. A lever 12 displaced by axial worm movement switches off the wormdrive motor.
