Abstract
10,637. Stanley, G. E., and Premier Cycle Co. April 30. Clutches, friction.-Relates to segmental friction clutches and brakes, specially applicable to the hubs of motor-cycles. Loose upon the fixed axle l are the pedal-driven sleeve f and the motor-driven sleeve g, which are provided with slots f<1>, g<1> engaged by the arms h<1> of a spider to connect the sleeves together. The hub i carries, on pins c, tapered outer segments a adapted to be engaged by projections b<1> on members b, Figs. 1 and 2, provided with arms b<2> engaging the slots f<1> and pressed outwards by means of a spring pressed cone d. The cone d is moved in the opposite direction by means of a rod j, key k. and a cup k<2> bearing on the cone, which carries pins d<2> engaging inclined slots b<3> in the segments h, to withdraw them positively.
