Abstract

22,082. Stanley, G. E. Sept. 23. Clutches, friction.-In clutches of the multiple-segment type for motor-cycles, one set of segments F engages slots in a disk D engaging slots in a sleeve C, secured to the pedalling- sprocket, and a sleeve C<2> connected to the power pulley. The other set of segments H engages slots in a flanged sleeve G turning with the hub B. The disk D may be formed in two parts. The innermost segments J have projections J<2> passing through the sleeve C, and are pressed radially to actuate the clutch by a cone K, operated through a ball bearing M by a rod L.
