Reversing-gearing. - Relates to reversing- gearing of the type in which forward drive takes place through a cone friction clutch, and the reverse through a train of friction wheels A pulley 2 is mounted loosely on a flanged sleeve 3 which is rigidly secured to the shaft 1. On its inner side, the pulley is provided with a disk or web portion 7, and a seat 10 which is adapted to co-operate with a surface 11 on a clutch member elastically connected to the flange 4 on the end of the sleeve 3 by means of diametrically opposed bolts 13 passing through bosses 14 which are surrounded by compression springs 15. Fingers 17 are pivoted between ears 19 on the flange 4, these fingers being adapted to push the surfaces 10, 11 into engagement when the fingers are operated by the coned spool 22. Anon-rotatable spider 23 is mounted on the shaft 1 and is provided at the ends of its radial arms with rubber or other rollers 26. A sleeve 28 is rigidly secured to the shaft and carries a flanged portion 29 against which rests a disk 30, prevented from rotating relatively to the sleeve 28 by means of pins 31 fixed in the sleeve taking into holes in the disk. Fingers 33 are utilized to force the surface 7, rollers 26, and disk 30 into engagement, thus transmitting a reverse drive to that given through the surfaces 10, 11. An antifriction bearing 42 may be provided between the boss 12 and the adjacent surface of the clutch member.
