Abstract
5925. Rusett, C. H. de. Sept. 10. Clutches, friction. - Relates to double-acting cone friction clutches which automatically tighten under increase of load. Springs h and struts e bearing on balls e<1> are arranged between a cone a, fixed on the shaft f, and a loose cone b. A casing c with clutch faces c<1>, c<2> slides on and turns with the shaft d. The springs h press the cone b into engagement with the surface c<1> causing relative rotation of the cones a, b, so that the surface c<2> is moved into engagement with the cone a by straightening of the struts, the pressure between the parts increasing automatically with the load. The parts are disengaged by pressure on the ends b<0>, c" of the cone b and casing c.
