10,828. Hooppaw, O. W. May 2. Draught - excluders; rattling of windows, preventing. - Beaded metal strips on the sashes engage with resilient grooved strips on the frame. I n the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the outer edge of the lower sash 8 is rabbeted to receive a grooved strip secured on its outer face, and a beaded strip 9 is secured to the parting bead. In the case of the upper sash 7, the beaded strip 9 is secured to the sash, and the grooved strip 11 is fixed in the parting-strip groove before the parting strip is inserted; or the draught-excluding strips may be fixed on the outer edge of the sash and on the outer bead 6. Draughtexcluding strips 15, 17 may also be fitted to the top and bottom rails of the upper and lower sashes respectively; draught is also prevented at the meeting rails by a flexible strip as shown in Fig .1.
