Abstract

6038. Johnstone, W. F. March 26, 1909, [Convention date]. Towing.-A towing-post is located abaft of and near the centre of the deck of a vessel, and comprises an arcuate casing 6 pivoted in a base-plate 2 secured to the deck. The tow rope 16 passes over rollers pivoted within the casing, and down co-axially with the post to the towing-machine. A top bearing 18 is provided supported by stays 19, while extending radially from the casing are stays 20, the lower ends of which carry rollers bearing on a roller-way 22.
