Abstract
202. Berthier, A. P. V. M. Sept. 19, 1908, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breechblock. - Consists in a cartridgeextractor, and in a deflector, for gas-operated guns of the kind having a tilting and sliding breech-block and non- tilting bolt head, as described in Specification 21,383/09. The extractor 1, Fig. 5, is secured to the breech-block by two studs 3, 7 engaging respectively recesses 4, 8 in the bolt and bolthead. The rear end a of the extractor is bent and engages a corresponding inclined surface b, Fig. 4, on the breech-bolt. The studs 3, 7 are a sufficiently loose fit to allow the bent rear end to ride up the inclined surface on the bolt as the breech is opened, thus increasing the pressure of the extractor on the cartridge. The deflector consists of a hinged plate 9, Fig. 6, which, when not in use, can be folded down to close the ejection opening.
