Abstract
20,756. Ouden, A. N. den. Aug. 6, [Convention date]. Floating docks.-Relates to improvements in vessel-carrying ships of the type provided externally with swinging gates and adapted to be sunk or immersed by means of water-ballast tanks in order to admit smaller vessels through the gates. The invention consists in the provision of means which will allow the transportation of relatively large vessels. Gates e, f at the bow are rotated by means of gear h, i and k, l respectively. Inside these gates are trap-doors g. The first ship a is floated in until it rests over the transverse bearers b. These are raised by means of screw-and-nut mechanism c, d, whereupon a second ship a may be floated into position.
