Abstract

Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement and construction of; cars; steering; p r o p e l l i n g.-An aerial machine is steered by varying the position of the centre of gravity with respect to the supporting- surface. The cage 6 carrying the propellers &c. is supported from a beam 1, to which the wings 18, 19 are secured by means of rollers 5 running in guides 4 on the beam 1. For vertical steering, the cage 6 is moved longitudinally along the beam 1 by means of a rack 2 and pinion 3. The cage 6 has a cage 10 flexibly secured to it, as by bellows 13. The cage 10 carries the front propeller 11 and motor 12, and can be moved along rails 14 secured to the cage 6. To displace the centre of gravity to the right or left, the cage 10 is rotated round an axis 16 by means of worm gearing. The wings are hollow double planes abutting against one another at their external edge. One front and two rear propellers are used.
