Abstract
9762. Lees, J. O., and Smalley, W. April 24. Guards, controlling.-In door-locking devices for carding-engine cylinders of the type described in Specification 6694/04, [Class 120, Spinning], in which the door is kept closed by weighted levers, the end of the weighted lever d, Fig. 2, is engaged, when the cylinder is rotating, by a disk e rapidly rotated on a spindle g by a belt k. When the cylinder stops, the disk e comes to rest, and is then rotated in the reverse direction by hand. A pin j, Fig. 3, carried by the boss e<1> of the disk, engaging a spiral groove g<x> in the spindle g and causes the disk to move along the spindle out of engagement with the lever, thus allowing the door to be opened. When the door is hinged at the top, an auxiliary lever is employed, one end of which clips over the weighted lever and the other end of which engages a disk mounted on a grooved spindle as described above.
