Abstract

1755. Jordan, J., and Furber, T. F. Jan. 24. Lift doors, locking and unlocking and operating.-The lift door is automatically locked in the open position, and when released, is automatically closed and locked in the closed position. The door is vertically sliding and balanced, and is provided with teeth f, which are engaged by a catch g when the door is closed. The catch is connected to a rod m, which is connected at its other end to a lever o. The catch g is released by a cam i, Fig. 3, on the cage rocking a bellcrank lever k, which abuts against a stop l on the rod m. The upward movement of the lever o, Fig. 1, enables a weighted lever p to force a catch q into engagement with a ratchet-wheel r and thus lock the gate against downward movement.
