Abstract

5376. Drown, A. E. March 5. Jackets and covers ; tread bands, projections, and surfaces. - A tyre cover comprises fabric strips 3, 4 with rubber, leather, &c. coatings 6, the strips being formed at their inner edges 5 to engage the rim 1, and the outer edges fitted with wires 7, which are secured by lacing &c. 10 to a flexible metal band 8. A rubber tread 9 is secured to the band 8 with or without rivets 11 having projecting heads as shown. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which wires 12 embedded in the tread 9 are fitted with loops 13 threaded by continuous wires 14 or by separate keys.
