Spring wheels; tyres, pneumatic.-A thin steel &c. resistant cover 3 of approximately semicircular cross-seccion, touching the tyre at the tread only and free at the sides, is secured on the tyre by flexible leather, rubber, or like dust-proof and water-proof strips 7, which are cemented or riveted to the cover and the wheel rim, and are of such shape as to continue the circular cross-section of the cover. The cover has a rubber &c. tread 5 preferably with embedded wires 6 secured in a dovetailed recess. In a modification, a dovetailed channel for holding the tread 5 is secured by riveting to the cover.
