Abstract

3599. Grunwald, C. May 7,1908, [Convention date]. Induction furnaces. - An auxiliary coil D, wound on the same core limb as the primary coil C, is connected to a third coil F on another core limb. This third coil is wound oppositely the auxiliary coil D but has fewer turns, the resultant induced pressure being such as to produce in the auxiliary coil a current which neutralizes the electro-dynamic effect of the primary current on the bath. The coil F is placed so that its electro-dynamic effect on the bath does not appreciably disturb the equilibrium of the latter.
