Abstract

189. Bemberg Akt.-Ges., J. P. July 23,1908, [Convention date]. Calendering. - Calendering- machines are provided with means for automatically reducing the pressure on the rollers, when a seam is passing through them, without stopping the machine, and with means for restoring the pressure when' the seam has passed. The fabric a passes through a key h in which it is lightly held by means of a spring, and on the arrival of a seam the key moves with the fabric, and, through levers k, l and bevel-wheels &c. m, a shaft n is rotated. This closes the high-pressure valve d, and puts the cylinder f in connexion with the lowpressure valve q which is then opened, the pressure being g relieved through a safety-valve r. The engagement of the key h with a stop t causes the release of the seam, which then passes through the rollers and actuates a key u similar to the key h and, by means of levers t, s, the lever k is moved into its original position, the high pressure is restored to the cylinder f, and the low-pressure valve is closed. The lever l may operate an automatic clutch actuated from the upper roller in order to rotate the shaft n. The safety-valve may be opened by means of a lever w.
