Abstract

20,434. Howorth, F. W., [Union Bag and Paper Co.]. Sept 13. Clutches.-In a machine for making paper bags, an electric circuit is automatically closed, under certain circumstances, and causes the armature of an electro-magnet O<8> to operate levers, which lift a pin 0<7> into the path of a rotating scroll D<3>. The pivoted lever O<5> then moves a bar O<3> and causes it to disengage a clutch and stop the machine. The bar O<3> is adapted to be operated by a hand-lever, and the clutch may also be thrown out of gear by means of a push-button, which closes the electric circuit.
