Abstract

21,092. Tribelhorn, A. Oct. 6. Aerial machines with aerostats; aeroplanes; framework; steering. - The framework of The framework of an aerial machine i s made in sections hinged together,so that the machine may be collapsed for transit. Frames 2, connected by rods 3, 4, form the central section to which are hinged booms 10, 11. The whole frame is braced when extended by wires extending from the free end of the boom 11 through guides in the arms 2<b> of the frame, around the free end of the boom 10, and back to the boom 11. Horizontal planes are arranged at the sides of the central section and are supported by arms 19 hinged to the frame 2. When the aerostat is deflated, the tension wires are relaxed, and the planes, the aerostat, and the booms 10, 11 are folded over the central frame. A box rudder 29<a> rotatable about both horizontal and vertical axes is provided for steering the machine. The horizontal spindle 24 carrying the rudder is turned by cords passing over pulleys 25 and the spindle is mounted in a cross-head carried by a vertical spindle 23, which is turned for horizontal steering by cords passing over a pulley 27.
