Abstract
15,938. Quevedo, L. T. July 11, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Aerostats; aerial machines with aerostats.-An elongated aerostat for an aerial machine is held rigid when inflated, by a flexible frame composed of cords or linen cloths and secured to the interior of the aerostat. The frame may consist of three cables A, B, C, Fig. 3, attached to the aerostat, of the cross-section shown, and having cords m, n, p secured to them at intervals. Inclined cords R, Fig. 1, also connect the cable C to the cables A, B. The car is supported by cords S radiating from points M on the cable C and secured to the cables A, B.. The motor and steering-apparatus are similarly suspended from the points P, Q. The cables are attached to the envelope E, Figs. 2 and 4, of the balloon by webs K, K<1> which are supported from the cable C by a cord G, and the joints are strengthened by strips H. The frame may be formed of three cables in the seams of the aerostat, with three permeable linen cloths forming the faces of the frame, the cord G being dispensed with. The suspension stays may be sewn to the cloths.
