Abstract

20,963. Towl, A. Pearce-, and Biscoe, H. S. T. May 3, 1909. Gas engines, purifying exhaust from. The exhaust gases are freed from smoke and other visible impurities by passing them through a serie s of conical converging jets of water. Fig. 1 illustrates the invention in connexion with a smoke-stack or funnel A in which the jets are formed by a series of decreasing rings C perforated on one side to emit a series of cones of liquid spray as shown by dotted lines. Fig. 4 shows the invention applied to a motor road vehicle. The conical spraying vessel B is mounted between the silencer G and a tank from which the purified products escape at H and the liquid returns to the circulating pump E.
