26,763. Tangyes, Ltd., and Pitt, J. H. Dec. 22. Gas engines.-Relates to a means for the purification of the washing-water used in connexion with a suction gas plant. This water, containing carbon monoxide &c., is discharged from a drain box a into a tank b,. wherein any solid impurities are removed, and is then pumped into the jacket e<2> of the gas-engine cylinder, flows through a pipe 4 to a water purifier or separating vessel, and escapes through a pipe 5 to an underground tank f ; it may then be pumped back again to the scrubber g. The water purifier consists of an outer chamber d surrounding the exhaust box h, on to the walls of which the water is delivered in the form-of spray. The carbon monoxide separates from the spray and escapes, together with the exhaust gases, through a pipe i. In a modification of the water purifier, a part of the exhaust gases may be used to assist in atomizing the water. In another modification, the carbon monoxide separated from the water may be led off for use by an independent gas-exit pipe.
