Abstract

8374. Higginson, G. April 15. [Cognate Application No. 21,738, A.D. 1908, dated Oct. 14.] Gas or explosive-vapour engines.-A spray-producer for atomizing petrol or other liquid fuel is formed by making a hole in the outer radius of the bend of a U-tube so that streams of liquid which enter the ends of the tube may meet and spray at the hole. Fig. 1 shows a U-tube U secured to a cap P which screws into a body B. The liquid enters at each end of the tube and sprays at a hole N. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which liquid enters at one end E, and air at the other end E<1> of the tube. The plug P is in this case secured to the body B by means of a nut C. Fig. 5 shows a further modification in which the liquid enters both ends of the tube and the compressed air issues from a nozzle 0 beneath the jet N.
