13,004. Matthias, E. A. June 5. Box lids and covers.-A packing-case 1 is provided with a detachable lid 2, which rests on shoulders 3 on the walls of the case. Metal bands 4, 5 project over the inner faces of the end walls 6. To put the lid in position, the end 2b is first placed under the band 4, the pivoted metal end piece 7 on the end 2<a> being turned at rightangles to the lid. To secure the lid, the part 7 is turned down, being secured in position by the slider 9 and by the part 7<b> engaging under the band 5. In a modification, the end bands 4, 5 are again employed, a pair of hinged fasteners being provided at the sides of the lid engaging with sockets in the side walls. Adhesive labels or seals may be pasted over the locking-plates for safeguarding the contents of the case.
