Abstract

Folding boxes; corner joints etc.; lids; tampering with, preventing.-A collapsible box or container comprises separable bottom 1, Fig. 2, sides 2, ends 3, top 5, all of composition board &c., each part being provided at its edges with metal flanges enabling the parts to be set-up together to form the box, or nested flat together for packing. The flanges 9 on the bottom 1 are upstanding, as shown, and the projecting bottom flanges of the sides and ends, when in position, take into the recesses 10. The false bottom 4 has no flanges but fits closely within the side and end walls and has a lifting bail handle. The top meeting edges of the sides and ends are secured together by U-clips taking into notches formed in the respective edge flanges, and the top section has a depending double flange 26, 27, forming with the edge of the section a groove, within which the tops of the sides and ends lie when the cover is in position. The top section has four sliding locking-bolts passing through the flanges 26, 27; and engaging holes in the sides 2. When the bolts are shot, holes in them register with holes 39 in the cover flange enabling sealing-wires to be passed therethrough. The parts are nested together for packing as shown in Fig. 4, the flanges 9 of the bottom and the depending flanges of the lid meeting and enclosing the remaining parts, the locking-bolts of the lid being passed into holes formed for the purpose in the bottorr flanges.
