Abstract
120,833. Russell, J., and Moody, C. A. Feb. 23, 1918. Lids and covers; lampering with, preventing and detecting; handles; bands &c., strengthening.- In order to fasten the lid b of a case or crate a, it is fitted with a bar d slidable in a channel c on its inner f a c e and adapted to engage at one end in a recess on the inside of the front of the box. the bar being retained in position by cross-bars c, e<1>. These cross-bars may be of metal, and the ends of the bar e<1> form pivots for the lid, which is shown in the open position. The bar d is disposed beneath an opening b<1>, and to its upper surface is pivoted a bar d<1>, which, when turned into alinement with it, serves to retain it in its locking position, the bars d, d<1> then serving as a handle for carrying purposes. Stops f limit the motions of the bar d. When the case is fastened, a wire, cord, &c. may be passed through holes h, h<1> and sealed at its ends; or a label may be pasted round the bars d, d<1>.
