At the top of the sides a of a box are secured blocks b, each formed as a triangular p r i s m towards one end, and on the bottom of the lid c are fixed similar blocks d. The lid is placed upon the box and slid into place so that the triangular prism-shaped portions of the block interlock. A ledge d<6>, attached to the underside of the lid, also engages a projection b<6> on the end the box. In order to secure the lid in position, a piece of wood f is secured to the front of the box, and has a recess g which registers with a slot in the lid. A cross-piece k on the top of the lid has a recess in which is hinged a plate n carrying a latch hook o adapted to engage a pin h in the recess g. When the lid is being placed in position, the plate n is raised, as shown in Fig. 4, and, after the lid has been pressed home, the plate is dropped so that the hook o engages the pin h. A sheet-metal or paper seal may be placed over the plate n or the recess in the piece k, or a piece of string may be passed through the plate n and a hole bored in the piece k and the ends secured by a lead seal.. In a modification, the blocks b, d may be replaced by sheet metal plates bent so as to interlock when the lid is pushed into place.
