9425. Brent, C. April 23. Fire-extinguishing by water charged with carbonic acid; portable pressure reservoirs.-Relates to the use of a saturated solution of water and carbonic acid for fire-extinguishing purposes. Carbonic acid under pressure is supplied continuously from a container 14 to the water tank 1, the outlet valve 4 of which is normally closed, so that the water in the tank becomes completely saturated with the gas. This solution is projected on to the fire, when the carbonic acid is freed from solution by the heat. The communication between the gas container and the water tank is always open.
