Abstract

4112. Anderson, W., and Anderson, H. Feb. 19. Incandescent gas lamps.-An air chamber 10, Fig. 1, surrounding the mixing-chamber, is supplied through pipes 12 passing across an annular flue 29, and the relative positions of the nipple 16 and the preferably conical mouth 15 of the mixing-tube way be regulated by adjusting the length of the burner tube or of the air chamber. The gas may be heated in an annular chamber 13, Fig. 2, surrounding the flue. A spiral anti-vibration spring 23, Fig. 1, may be inserted between the flanges on the two telescopic parts of the air chamber 10, and a cover 24, faced on its underside with asbestos 25, prevents the gaseous mixture from escaping. In a cluster-burner lamp, an anti-vibration spring 30, Fig. 5, resting on a flange 31 on the lamp casing, supports 'the burners, and lateral movement is limited by springs 33. The upper end'of each air chamber is made air-tight by. an asbestos ring pressed against the top of the air chamber by a spring 36. Each burner mouth may be provided with three leaf diaphragms.
