Abstract
190,619. Meijer, N. E. G. Nov. 23, 1921. Switches, actuating, contrifugal.- An alternator is connected up automatically to the bus-bars of another alternator when synchronism has been obtained by an apparatus comprising two synchronous motors connected respectively to the alternators, rotary switch elements driven by these motors, a time-lay relay, and an electromagnetic switch controlled by the conjoint action of the preceding apparatus. The motor 1 drives a shaft 3, Fig. 2, carrying a disc 4 provided with a flange 5. The disc 4 carries a leaf spring 6 adapted to engage at a predetermined speed an adjustable contact 9 mounted on a contact 8 carried by the disc 4. The motor 2 drives shaft 11 carrying a disc 10 upon which is mounted a spring- pressed contact 12 wiping over the disc 4 and adapted to engage the contact 8. The disc 10 carries contacts 14, 15, Figs. 1 and 3, connected to the negative lead of the supply A through slip ring 11<b> and lamp L and slip ring 11<c> and lamp L<1> respectively. A contact member 16, connected to the positive lead of the supply A through a slip ring 11<a>, is loosely mounted on the shaft 11 and carries a spring- pressed plunger 18 provided with a leather shoe 19 engaging the flange 5 of the disc 4. The shaft 11 is adapted to drive a notched disc 27 through a clutch 25 controlled by a magnet 26. The disc 27 is moved against the action of a spring 31 and its initial position is adjusted by a stop 29.
