4591. Skipper, T. S. Feb. 24. Sliding valves; venting. -Two forms of slide valves are employed in apparatus for measuring and delivering aerated liquid with syrup. Fig. 5 shows the syrup valve D<3> with its'single port D' in position for charging the valve-box B' from the supply pipe while air passes up a vent-pipe C. When the valve, which is pressed' upon its seat by' a spring, moves upwards, discharge takes place through a pipe. Figs. 6 and 7 show the arrangement of ports in the aerated - liquid valve, whereby the measuring-vessel I is charged from a supply vessel in communication with the valve casing whenever the ports H<4> register and the descending valve then snifts the vessel I through the pipes L, L<1> and ports H<5> and finally allows it to discharge into a mixing-vessel through the ports H<4>, H<6>. A spring assists the pressure in the aerated supply vessel to keep the valve upon its seat.
