Abstract

9045. Murray, T. S. S., Murray, F. L. S., and Farkhurst, S. W. April 17. Direct gas-pressure apparatus, non-automatic.- In means for raising and maintaining the condition of beer or other liquids by compressed gas, such as carbon dioxide, an air-tight vessel 1 is provided between the cask 8 and delivery tap and the compressed gas is automatically supplied to this intermediate receptacle. The receptacle 1 is provided with an inlet 2 from the barrel provided with a non-return valve 3 and an outlet 4 to the delivery tap. In its cover are provided two openings G. 7, one acting as an inlet for pressure fluid and the other as an outlet to the cask. These openings are controlled by needle valves 9, 10 actuated by means of a float 14, so arranged that when the liquid level falls, the gas supply is closed and communication is established between the space above the liquid and the cask ;- when the level rises, the pressure supply is opened and the passage 7 to the barrel is closed.
