Abstract

991. Wright, R. Jan. 15. Bottling.-Relates to apparatus for aerating and bottling liquids of the kind described m Specification No. 19,556, A.D. 1905, and consists in combining with the aerating-chamber a, Fig. 1, a secondary chamber a<1>, which receives excess of gas from the chamber a and is adapted to be placed in communication with the chamber a to provide gas pressure for bottling or to be snifted when the aerated liquid is to be discharged at atmospheric pressure into drinking-glasses or the like. The chambers a, a<1> are separated by a partition a<2> containing an equilibrium valve, which is opened by rise of pressure in the chamber a, and admits gas into the chamber a'. The chambers are also connected by a by-pass valve g. In operation, a snift valve b connected to the chamber a, a watersupply valve c, and a gas - supply valve d are actuated in sequence by the horizontal movements of a lever l, whereby the chamber a is supplied with water and gas, and excess of gas passes into the chamber a<1>. To discharge the aerated liquid into bottles, the lever h opens the by-pass valve g between the chambers a, a<1> through a rod g3 and lever g<1>, a discharge valve i, and a snift valve k<1> on a turn-over bottling-apparatus. To discharge the liquid at atmospheric pressure, the discharge passage is connected with a nozzle m<2> by a two-way cock m, and a snift valve o, Fig. 2, on the secondary chamber a', which is held on its seating during the bottling operation by a screwed piece o', is released. The snift valve is closed by a projection l<x> on the lever l while the gas-supply valve d is open, and rises to snift the pressure when the gas supply valve is closed. The pressure in the aerating-chamber is snifted through the by-pass valve g.
