1450. Darmstaedter, G. Jan. 19. No Patent granted (Sealingfeenotpaid). Transferring designs; transfers.-In the preparation of transfers, a medium consisting of linseed oil, soda, waterglass, colsfonium, and litho-varnish is mixed with the ink employed in the various successive printings. In the case of single-coloured transfers, three superposed impressions are made, the previous impressions having been allowed to dry. The transfers thus produced are over-printed with litho-varnish mixed with a solution of resin in boiled linseed oil, waterglass, and soda. The designs are transferred to the surfaces of glass, flowers, metal, wood, &c. by covering the transfer with a sheet of blotting-paper saturated with methylated spirit, applying the transfer to the article, and pressing it flat preferably with a rubber roller. The paper backing is then moistened with water and peeled off.
