2376. Dethleffs, M. Oct. 13, 1910, [Convention date]. Printed paper, finishing. - Relates to a method of treating lithographic or letterpress prints on smooth paper to make them resemble engravings. The picture, either in one or several colours, is printed on glossy paper or cardboard, and the gloss is finally removed by coating the print, by a brush or printing-roller, with a paste consisting, for example, of Chinese wood-oil, boiled linseed oil, dry hydrated alumina, zinc borate, white potash soap, and ammonia. The print possesses a uniform matt appearance. The coating-paste may be coloured, and a drying-material may be added.
