[Class 100 (ii)] [See also Group VIII] Relief-patterned wallpaper is made by applying to a plain sheet or web of paper a plastic mass consisting of glue and a highly voluminous filler such as talcum powder. The weight of the filler may exceed that of the glue by 15 to 30 per cent and the composition may also contain pigments. The plastic mass may be uniformly applied to the plain, printed, or dyed paper by plain rollers and then passed while still moist between a plain roller and an engraved roller to form the relief pattern. Alternatively, the plastic mass may be applied directly to the paper from an engraved roller. The patterned paper may be sprayed with pigment, powdered mica, or bronze powder before drying.
