Abstract

317,970. Courmont, H. July 26, 1928. Transferring designs; transfers.-Transfers for producing designs on porous surfaces such as wood or fabric are prepared by printing the design lithographically on the gummed, or starched and gummed, surface of a sheet of unsized paper and coating the print with a solution of gum-lac, gum sandarach, and gum elemi in alcohol, preferably in the proportions of 150 parts of gum lac, 100 parts of gum sandarach, and 50 parts of gum elemi in 1000 parts of alcohol. The transfer to the wood &c. is effected by a press at a temperature of about 120‹ C., a pad of felt or flannel being interposed between the press head and the transfer. If the wood &c. surface is very rough, the back of the paper may be wetted before the pressure is applied.
