Abstract

21,765. Thorp, T. Oct. 26. Pressure - regulating valves; shocks, preventing. - F o r the purpose of obtaining a uniform flow of fluids in pipes where the pressure is subject to variation, as, for example, where gas engines are supplied or exhausters are used or where the production of a gas is intermittent, or in fluid meters, a weighted valve is placed at the inlet to the flow, and the underside of this valve communicates with an extensible chamber. Fig. 1 shows the application to a fluid meter. The valve 5 leading to the meter is provided with a dash-pot 6 and is also weighted by a spring, made and applied as described in Specification No. 5791, A.D. 1905. Below the valve 5 is a channel 13 leading to a bell 11 working in an annular space formed in an enlargement of the channel 2. A liquid seal 10 is formed in the annular space, and the bell 11 is provided with a valve 14. Fig. 3 shows a modification, in which the channels from the meter lead to the inside of a chamber 17, provided with a flexible diaphragm 15, and to the outside of the same, respectively. The, diaphragm is loaded with a spring 22 similar to that used for the valve 5.
