8431. Hodson, H. M. April 7. Pneumatic, hydraulic, and like vibration-dampers.- Relates to a diaphragm governor for an air or gas compressor or exhauster and consists in placing the diaphragm under a chamber d, divided horizontally by a partition r, the upper and lower parts of the chamber being connected by a valved passage q. Air may be used in this chamber or a liquid; in the latter case an extension s is provided on the chamber, the result being that the load on the diaphragm varies with its position. The upper part of the chamber d may be closed, and water &c. under constant pressure be supplied thereto through a valve connected to the governor spindle either directly or through a lost-motion device, the outlet being of constant size.
