Abstract

17,896. Lombard, J. Aug. 6, 1910, [Convention date]. Pressure-regulating valves. - Automatic expansion devices for fluids, such as reducing- valves, are controlled by the velocity of flow of fluid to or from the apparatus. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a loaded piston valve d<1> is actuated by the expanded steam pressure acting on the upper side of the piston e and a suction pressure produced below the piston by an ejector h situated in the inlet. The piston may be replaced by a diaphragm, and the ejector may be arranged in the outlet. In a modification, the upper side of the piston is acted upon by pressure delivered through a trumpet nozzle facing the flow.
