Sprinklers, automatic. - Fire-extinguishing liquid, gas, or steam, under pressure, is supplied through a pipe a to a main valve casing b, provided with a flexible diaphragm f, through a port e in which the compressed fluid passes into a chamber d and a pipe k leading to a series of auxiliary valve casings t. When one or more valves m in the casings t are opened by thermally-operated expansion devices q, r, the compressed fluid escapes, and the pressure in the chamber d falls, thus allowing the diaphragm f, which is normally forced against the lower edge of a partition h, to be forced downwards, whereupon the compressed fluid passes into delivery piping s, which may be provided with sprinklers.
