Abstract
18,824. Miess, J. H. Sept. 18. Incandescent vapour lamps.-In a lamp in which the vaporizing-tube 1, Fig. 1, is heated by an auxiliary burner 6 connected by a tube 7 with the mixing-chamber, the air supply is admitted to a transverse tube or tubes 13 through apertures 15 formed in an asbestos-lined casing and regulated by a hit-and-miss valve 17. The preliminary heating of the tube 1 is effected by means of asbestos, supplied with spirit through a tube 23, and air is admitted at the base of the casing 9 surrounding the tubes 1, 7. The oil supply is regulated by a valve 27, and the vapour nozzle is cleaned by a needle 25. The mixing-tube 2, the mixing-chamber 3, and the auxiliary burner are formed of comparatively heavy castings, the tube 2 being brazed to the chamber 3 into which it projects.
