Abstract
10,358. Thomas, J., and Podmore, A. E. May 5. Incandescent gas lamps.-To increase the luminosity of the mantle a current of heated air and gas is supplied to its interior, and a current of heated air to its exterior. The mantle is surrounded by a chimney b, c, of the form shown, resting on a holder d having apertures e to admit air from a'tube g depending from a heating-chamber f, which also supplies hot air through a tube k to the mixing-chamber l. The gas supply pipe i may pass through the heating-chamber f and the tube k. The gas pipe and one or more air tubes may be coiled round the inside of the heating- chamber.
