Abstract
18,272. Spreadbury, R. J. Aug. 23. Incandescent gas lamps.-In an inverted incandescent burner, the tube of which is in two parts a, b separated by an asbestos washer c, as described in Specification No. 2615, A.D. 1904, the flame is made steadier and lighting - back is prevented by means of an outer cone d and inner perforated cone or mixing-chamber e attached to a flanged portion a<1> of the tube a. A nozzle g, constricted at its middle part, as shown, is attached to the cone d, and has an inwardly-projecting flange g<1> at its outlet, serving to create eddy currents behind it and thus to aid the admixture of gas and air. The nozzle is formed preferably with a projection f to receive crutches k<1> supporting the mantle h, but they may be attached also to the cone d.
